Let's Be Friends:

Jon on PhoneHello, and welcome to JonZmikly.com. Perhaps you've stumbled upon this site after googling "how to skin a mule deer with only a tire iron and a stapler" or "techniques and uses of the hammer throw in modern times." While these are two phrases that most people think of when they think of me, it's not what you'll find here. This is my portfolio website. Here, you will find out about my professional history, some past projects I've worked on, and probably much, much more. Feel free to contact me and let me know how you're doing.

Jon Who?

But seriously, in case you haven't met me yet, and you actually did Google something like "Innovative Diary Tips," you may be wondering who Jon Zmikly is. Well, that is a very valid question, and one that changes quite often. Currently, I am a Senior Lecturer at Texas State University, teaching Web Design and Publishing, Writing for the Mass Media, Visual Literacy, Media Design, and I'm what one might call a "webmaster" for the School of Journalism & Mass Communication. I also work at San Marcos Community Church as a youth leader, media/tech guy, and from time to time I'll fix the bathroom sinks. I just finished up graduate school at Texas State where I received my Master of Arts in Media Studies. I am originally from Oxford, MI, and could never have planned out how my life has gone so far.

While my life seems to change every couple years or so, one thing that never changes is my full devotion to Jesus Christ. I love talking about what He has done in my life, and I know He has an ultimate plan for me. If you don't know about Him, please feel free to ask me.

My most recent sermon at SMCC was called "Living Out of Your True Heart". Based partially on the book "Wild At Heart" by John Eldredge and Ezekiel 36:26-27, this two-part series talks about how to live out of the new heart God gives us when we first believe. You can listen to the sermon in the audio clips below. Let me know what you think!

Part I and Part II
San Marcos Community Church

I used a Wordpress theme by Kaptinlin to create this website for my church. This was my first attempt at using Wordpress's CMS, and it is so great. The installation was simple, and the theme is perfect for what we're using it for. I have tried other content managers like Joomla! before, and they were nightmares. Highly recommended!
